It was a gorgeous, silent, cold and sunny winter day…

The baby who was going to be baptised were sweetly sleeping in his push chair… after I went out with him for a half an hour or so, dressed up in the dress and pantyhose and wearing no hat or gloves which I “luckily” forgot at home. It was -10C by the way…

The party! Satisfied guests – happy hosts! :D

And of course lots of very nice presents. :)

Smörgåstårta  (sandwich cake :D ).

Those sandwich cakes are known as the best in town and they really were. I saw people taking three(!) servings, should I say more? ;)

The cake. But we also had another one… ;)

This cake is chocolate heaven! Since so many of you were literally bagging :) for the recipe I might consider posting it any time soon! :D Stay tuned!

Lil’ Fil’s Baptism Ceremony

Saturday, December 19th, 2009 at 22:45

Hi there! This is Mrs Perfection here. :) hehe I guess I dare to call me like that because today’s baptism ceremony for Lil’ Fil and the following party was going to be great but it turned out to be outstanding!!! “Planning is everything”, you know.;) Of course, I have to say THANK YOU to all who helped us with arrangements and to all who came to share this day with us. It’s because of you, the love you all showed to our baby and your sincereness and kindness that this day turned out to be the day that we will always remember. One can think that four months old baby is not aware of what is happening, but I have my doubts. Lil’ Fil has been so aware of everything today, he was calm and curious both during the ceremony and during the party, smiling and charming everyone on his way. :)

We have to say THANK YOU to all of you for all those nice presents that Lil’ Fil’s got today.  I just can’t wait until he is old enough to start playing/reading/wearing and… drinking (he got a bottle of whiskey :D, which he is supposed to open when he is 18, if his dad wouldn’t drink it up before that, of course. :) ) all those things.

And at last but not the least… There is no baptism without a priest. I really loved today’s priest and his laid-back style and all those wise words that he said.

What I’m going to do tomorrow besides playing with all new toys;) ? I’m going to write down a story about Lil Fil’s baptism day and I am going to save it in a box together with all kind wishes that he got today, so he can read it whenever he would like to ( and we too, if it’s ok? ;)  ).

Lucia

Sunday, December 13th, 2009 at 21:02

It is the 13th of December today and that means that it is Lucia or St. Lucy’s Day in Sweden today.

To make the long story short yo are supposed to sing “Santa Lucia”-song and eat the Lucia buns (the ones that I failed to make yesterday ;) ). The last I did several times today… *guilty ;)* It’s even worse, those Lucia buns made me completely  forget to make ginger cookies today. *What shell I eat tomorrow? :D *

It is the last weekend before the Lil’ Fil’s baptism ceremony next Saturday so in between of eating Lucia buns today we were getting ready for that. In Catholic and Orthodox church next Saturday, the 19th of December, is St. Nicolas Day. *yeh, I know – too much saints for this post ;)* Anyway, St. Nicolas was the patron of all children so it is kind of symbolical that we are going to baptize Lil’ Fil on that day.

Now we’ve been to Lil’ Fil’s grand granny’s place and picked up his gown. It is really beautiful and when I say it I mean it! It looked beautiful on the pictures but it looks completely gorgeous “in real life”. We couldn’t even dream to get such masterpiece. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! ♥

Besides, the other lovely autumn day, we have visited the church and the hall where we will be having coffee after the ceremony, which was surprisingly new, clean and bright! :)
